Shabbat Enrichment
The centerpiece of our community’s week is Shabbat morning. Our Shabbat morning service brings together individuals with wide-ranging knowledge of liturgy and practice, and Shabbat Enrichment provides and opportunity for even the smallest children to know the joys of Shabbat. Shabbat morning services begin at 9 AM every Saturday in the Sanctuary.
Shabbat Enrichment is our Shabbat morning learning program for children Pre-K through 8th grade. The curriculum seeks, at its core, to build upon and enhance a sense of community and Shabbat among our children and youth. Classes are by grade and include but are not limited to instruction in Parasha Hashavua, Holidays, trope and current events.
Our eighth grade students are part of a special class called Shalshelet which begins training them to become Teaching Assistants in our program once they are in the ninth grade.
Many of Beth Jacob teenagers, students in 9th through12th grade, serve the Shabbat Enrichment program as Teaching Assistants.
Each week students join together in combined grade groupings for Shabbat davening. At the close of Shabbat services the entire youth community and the teachers join the adults in the main sanctuary to conclude the Shabbat davening together.
