Airport Dog Park

The airport dog park is on an 80-acre parcel of land owned by the Metropolitan Airport Commission and situated in the northwest corner of the airport property. (For you aviation buffs, the southern park fence borders the end of Runway 12R.)

“Not substantiated by anyone at MAC, rumor has it that the airport management decided to let dogs and their owners roam the property to help deter crime, such as breaking into cars parked in the employee lot.”

Because this dog park is not managed by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (nor located in the city limits, for that matter), you do not need to have an off-leash permit to use it. However, there are no services or management provided. Owners are expected to pick up after their dogs and take it with them for disposal off park grounds.

The property is not entirely fenced in. If you’re new to the park, please read Info for New Visitors for important safety information.

There is a $3.00 charge for snacks and drinks for you and your pooch.  PLEASE RSVP ONLINE BY JULY 21 SO WE KNOW TO EXPECT YOU. All are welcome, dogs or no dogs!

(For the first 12 pooches to register, special KANINE KALLAH REGALIA !)

In case of rain, this event will be canceled.

For more information, contact Rabbi Liberman at

Important information for you and your dog:

  • Bring poop bags
  • Bring water with bowl
  • Bring a lawn chair for you

Take the Crosstown Highway (Hwy 62) to the 28th Street Exit. Turn south toward the airport and go to the end of the street. You’ll see the MAC offices on the right. The dog park is the grassy area between the MAC building and the runways. You may park along the street or in the MAC parking lot.
