Rabbi Adam Rubin worked for over ten years as a professor of Jewish history at Hebrew Union College and the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, then shifted career paths to become a rabbi. He was ordained at the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies in the spring of 2014. In the 5½ years since then, he served as an assistant rabbi at Congregation Beth Shalom in Seattle and is currently the senior rabbi at Beth Tikvah Congregation in Richmond, BC. As a Jewish spiritual leader, he seeks to bring spiritual depth, passion, intellectual seriousness and personal warmth into the community he serves. He is devoted to teaching Torah in a way that is compelling, relevant, and accessible to congregants of widely varying commitments and backgrounds.

Rabbi Rubin is married to Judith Schleyer; they have two children, Elior and Na’amah.

Rabbi Rubin will meet with Beth Jacob’s Board

Friday February 28th

7:15am-8:30am – Meet Rabbi Rubin at morning minyan followed by a short study session led by Rabbi Rubin (8:00-8:30am)

2:30pm-3:15pm – Rabbi Rubin will visit BJC residents at Sholom Home East.

5:30pm – Rabbi Rubin will lead Kabbalat Shabbat and Maariv followed by a community dinner in the social hall. Rabbi Rubin’s wife, Judith and his children Elior and Na’amah will join the congregation for Shabbat. Please RSVP for dinner.

7:30pm – Get to know Rabbi Rubin followed by a dessert reception (evening concludes by 9:00pm).

Saturday, February 29

9:00am – Shabbat morning services with Rabbi Rubin and his family. Rabbi Rubin will be on the bima, lead Pesukei dezimra, give the introduction to the Torah portion and the d’var Torah.

12:00pm – Kiddush lunch with Rabbi Rubin and his family.

1:15pm-2:15pm – Post-Kiddush Q&A with Rabbi Rubin.

4:30pm-6:45pm – Seudah Shlishit for pre-b’nai mitzvah families, Rabbi Rubin and his family at the Ehrlich’s house.

8:00pm-9:00pm – Rabbi Rubin and his family will join USY and Kadimah families event at the Goffman’s house.

Sunday, March 1

8:30am – Morning minyan led by Rabbi Rubin

9:15am-10:15am – Light breakfast and congregational study session with Rabbi Rubin
