The centerpiece of our community’s week is Shabbat. Our traditional Shabbat morning service brings together individuals with wide-ranging knowledge of liturgy and practice. Youth Education on Shabbat provides an opportunity for even the smallest children to know the joys of Shabbat. We have classes for adults on Shabbat during Shacharit.

Kabbalat Shabbat
Friday evenings, 6:00 pm CDT until November 4, 2018; 5:30 pm CST beginning November 9, 2018.

Half an hour before the service, we wish each other a Shabbat Shalom and share wine or sparkling grape juice and cheese, then we daven Kabbalat Shabbat. It’s a wonderful way to prepare for Shabbat. A little davenning, a little schmoozing and a little delectable delight. Stop by on your way home from work, or come before you sit down for Shabbas dinner. Beginning in June, we daven Kabbalat Shabbat outside, weather permitting.

Shabbat Morning Services
Shabbat Shacharit begins at 9:00 am, followed by the Torah service and Musaf.
The 8th aliyah on Shabbat is reserved for those who are observing a yahrzeit.

Kiddush Lunch following Shabbat morning services is an important part of Beth Jacob. People gather to share stories, laugh, joke, and meet new people. With Kiddush, we build connections that make Beth Jacob a strong, vibrant community.
