Practical Teshuvah

With Pam Winthrop Lauer & Rabbi Debra Rappaport

During the month of Elul leading up to Rosh Hashanah and the 10 Days of Awe connecting the Jewish new year with Yom Kippur, we have a special call to take the time to reflect. The primary work of the season is teshuvah, turning and returning to the best we can be. But how do we really do teshuvah? These three sessions will give participants knowledge, practice and tools for teshuvah that connects us more deeply with the people we care about.

Session 1: The Tool Set: Jewish Texts and Nonviolent Communication foundations.

Session 2: Practicing Teshuvah: Participants will work with an NVC process, developing practical skills for apologies that reconnect.

Session 3: “What about when I’m the one who needs an apology?” This session will touch on questions including, How do I ask for an apology? How do I loosen a grudge without an apology – or when I’m not ready forgive?

High Holiday Dinner & Break Fast Matching 2024

A holiday tradition we love: TC Jewfolk’s matchmaking service is back for this year’s High Holidays!

Togetherness and a special meal are both major parts of how we spend the High Holidays, but finding and making plans can be a challenge for lots of reasons.Everyone deserves a seat at the communal table — particularly when you’re new, connecting, or reconnecting in a community. That’s why we’re working to build opportunities to find others who are also looking for connections and spend these important days in good company.

Fill the form out before Wednesday, September 11 and we’ll connect you with any matches by Wednesday, September 18 to give you time to make plans together.

SEPTEMBER 14-22 – Twin Cities Jewish Film Festival

This year marks a milestone for the Minnesota JCC’s Twin Cities Jewish Film Festival, as we celebrate 30 years! For the past three decades, the fest has embraced the power of film to build bridges, entertain, create dialogue and cultural understanding, and promote tolerance through Jewish film. This year’s festival will include nostalgic throwbacks, world premieres, and red-carpet parties – we hope to see you at the movies!
